The weatherman is calling for a warm and sunny Saturday in Fort St. John, and the city has a whole slate of events lined up for youth and seniors to enjoy the day.
The city is marking National Health and Fitness Day June 6, and has the Pomeroy Sport Centre chock full of events, including free fitness classes and a healthy living seminar for seniors.
Events kick off at 10 a.m., with a line up that includes fitness circuits, ball hockey, and wheelchair basketball. Those don’t fit your fancy? Jazzercise, tai chi, zumba, and yoga are also on the agenda.
In the afternoon, the city, along with the Fort St. John Healthy Living Alliance and Northern Health, will roll out an initiative called Walking for Better Health Toolkits, geared towards getting seniors in the community more active and healthy.
That seminar runs from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the West Meeting Room, which will include the unveiling of brand new fitness equipment available for seniors.
