Fort St. John RCMP say they have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with a pair of robberies at the Shell gas station at Totem Mall over the last five days.

RCMP say they were called to the station Tuesday afternoon around 3 p.m., after receiving reports a man stole money from the cash register and fled the scene on foot, according to a release.

Officers, assisted by the K-9 unit, searched the area and were able to locate the suspect in a nearby apartment, who was arrested and taken in to custody.

Officers then obtained a search warrant for the apartment and found clothing they believe connect the suspect to a robbery that happened at the same Shell station on June 19.

The man, who has not yet been identified, is due to make his first court appearance today.
