This holiday season, all of our Supporters are entered to win an $800 Shopping Spree Giveaway!

The 2015 Arnie Isberg One Pitch Tournament concluded yesterday at the ball diamonds in Taylor. The event is held support of the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation Cancer Treatment and Diagnostic Fund.

Arnie’s brother and event organizer Vern Isberg said the event has grown every year since its been held, and this time was no different as 20 teams took part not just from Fort St. John but other communities.

“This is our fourth year. Unbelivable support this year we have 20 teams signed up and I have three on a waiting list for next year already,” he said. “It’s not just Fort St. John. There’s teams from Fort Nelson, Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, and Grande Prairie,” he said.

Proceeds from the tournament go towards the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation in aiding with the purchasing of needed equipment.

“In the last three years we’ve raised $32,000 roughly,” Isberg stated. “We’ve bought a chemo chair at the Fort St. John hospital and two biopsy guns. We’re just hoping for enough money to maybe purchase some other equipment that they need.”

Arnie Isberg was a long time resident of Fort St. John, who throughout his life was dedicated to various athletic programs in the region.

Unfortunately, Isberg fell victim to Pleomorphic Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that only affects approximately 350 patients in North America, and is an extremely challenging health issue to treat.

Last year’s tournament raised $8,700. A total for this year is expected this afternoon or tomorrow morning.
