Investigators remain on scene today following an explosion and fire at a natural gas well site in the Altares area north of Hudson’s Hope on Tuesday.
Northpoint Resources, which operates the well, confirmed the incident occurred at 5:45 p.m. local time.
Northpoint President Ron Lambie said the explosion occurred in a production tank. Damage was confined to the tank and a nearby containment berm, Lambie said. A small brush fire was quickly extinguished, he said.
There were no injuries, Lambie said.
Lambie said Northpoint is working with investigators, which include both the Oil and Gas Commission and WorkSafe BC, to determine the cause of the explosion.
Lambie said there is no risk to the public or the environment.
Northpoint Resources is headquartered in Calgary.
