TAMPA BAY, Fla. — Andrei Vasilevskiy will start for the Tampa Bay Lightning against the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup final.

Vasilevskiy led the Lightning onto the ice for pre-game warm-ups at United Center with Ben Bishop nowhere to be found.

Bishop made 36 saves while playing injured to lead Tampa Bay to a win in Game 3.

Vasilevskiy is making his first career Stanley Cup playoff start.

Latvian Olympic hero Kristers Gudlevskis will back up Vasilevskiy.

The Lightning called Bishop day-to-day with an undisclosed injury.

At the morning skate, coach Jon Cooper said the Lightning were in a “holding pattern” and Bishop refused to answer any questions about his status.

Vasilevskiy is a 20-year-old Russian with playoff experience in the KHL and tournament experience from the world juniors.

“We have good belief in him,” Lightning defenceman Anton Stralman said earlier in the series. “He’s been playing at a high level and in big games in KHL. I have no issues whatsoever when he’s in the net.”
