WINNIPEG — Police say “relationship issues” may have been the motive behind the stabbing death of a 17-year-old boy at a Winnipeg school.
The attack happened during the lunch hour Tuesday at Kelvin High School.
Const. Jason Michalyshen says a former student, Brett Bourne, was involved in a minor alternation with a 16-year-old student.
He says the younger boy backed off and another student intervened, stabbing Bourne.
The teen was later pronounced dead at hospital.
Police say the 17-year-old suspect is being interviewed and he will likely face homicide charges.
Michalyshen says Bourne’s family has consented to his name being released.
