Prince George-Peace River MP Bob Zimmer held a roundtable discussion yesterday on how community groups and residents can mark Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017.
In a release Zimmer said, “I encourage all organizations in Prince George-Peace River to consider making an application for the Canada 150 Fund. Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017 will be an exceptional year for Canada and Canadians. Communities will be supported in celebrating Canada 150 in ways that are unique and meaningful to them. Today’s participation at this roundtable demonstrates how we in Northern BC are willing to work together to ensure that 2017, our Nation’s 150th Birthday, is a great success and a source of Canadian pride.”
The Canada 150 fund is geared towards making the most of government investments and creating economic spin-offs for all communities in the country. Funding for community driven projects is currently being considered through an ongoing, competitive process. There is no deadline.
