City to flush watermains

Starting this week throughout the middle of July the City of Fort St. John will be conducting a unidirectional flushing program. It will allow for the cleaning of water mainlines through flushing sequences of pipes with water moving in one direction before being discharged from a fire hydrant.

The flushing will have minimal impacts to residents according to a City release. Residents may experience low water pressure, and discoloured water temporarily, however the colour is not a health risk. The City does advise however checking the water colour before running a dishwasher or washing machine.

The City will be updating their Facebook and Twitter pages with the locations of the flushing.
