At Monday’s Fort St. John City Council meeting, Council issued two proclamations. They’re recognizing June as brain injury awareness month, and the week of June 14-20 as arts week.
Arts week will feature a number of events aimed at celebrating the local arts community. One of the highlights of the week will be the Bright Nights in June gala on June 19. A number of performers will be on hand, and there will be a silent auction during the cocktail party at the North Peace Cultural Centre.
The following day will be the Bright Nights in June showcase from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be free arts classes and free performances at the North Peace Cultural Centre throughout the day as well as other planned activities.
Council also heard a presentation by Adam Richards, a representative of the Northern Brain Injury Association on some of the issues facing those with brain injuries, and the difficulties associated with living with a brain injury.
