Canada to play Glasgow Warriors in Halifax in pre-Rugby World Cup tuneup

TORONTO — The Canadian men’s rugby team will play the Glasgow Warriors in Halifax on Aug. 29.

The game against the Scottish club side will take place at the Wanderers Grounds, with temporary seating allowing close to 5,000 fans.

It will be Canada’s last contest before heading to the World Cup in England.

“We are excited to welcome the Glasgow Warriors to Halifax for an exhibition game on Aug. 29 as we continue on our road to the World Cup,” Rugby Canada CEO Graham Brown said in a statement.

“Glasgow is a club full of rich tradition and we have watched the team, and (Canadian international) DTH Van Der Merwe, closely in recent years.”

Van Der Merwe and the Warriors take on Munster on Saturday in the Guinness Pro12 final in Belfast.
