Officers from the detachment immediately responded and started a search for the vehicle. Surrounding RCMP detachments in every direction were notified and asked to join the search. The RCMP also set up a perimeter to cover all possible routes in and out of Hudson’s Hope.
At 1:14 p.m., the suspect vehicle was located by two employees of the District of Hudson’s Hope abandoned in the back alley behind a local gas station. The child was still in the back seat and is reportedly in good spirits and required no medical attention.
The RCMP believe, that because the vehicle was abandoned almost immediately, the child was not the target. The RCMP are still searching for the suspect and are asking for the public’s help to identifying a possible suspect.
