Local participants offering instant rebates for purchase of energy-saving lights

B.C. Hydro writes in a distributed press release that this initiative is an effort to help British Columbians save money in both the short-term and long-term.

Local participants include Walmart, Canadian Tire, Home Hardware and Rona.

“These energy efficient lighting products can help reduce electricity costs,” writes the crown corporation. “…LED bulb uses at least 75 per cent less energy than incandescent lighting and can last up to 25 years.”

LED lighting fixtures use approximately 75 per cent less energy and can last up to 25 times longer than incandescent lighting, according to B.C. Hydro.

The rebate for LED light bulbs is $4.00 and $10.00 for lighting fixtures – such as ceiling mounts, chandeliers and security lamps

“Residential lighting can account for up to 19 per cent of your average household electricity use, depending on whether your home is electrically heated.”

Instant rebates are running until the end of April 2015.
