Driver, 21, charged with evading police at over 150 km/hr near Farmington

“[The officer] went to do a vehicle stop on him, and of course at speeds of 150, the guy’s 2-3 miles down the road before the member could get around,” explains Dawson Creek Sgt. Ed Reinink. “…After about three hours of chasing him around with the dog, we did get him in custody.”

The incident, which unfolded near Farmington Fairways Golf Course, did stop traffic for a short period of time, according to Reinink.

“We stopped traffic because we weren’t sure if he was coming out onto the highway to try and hitch a ride with people.”

The suspect, a 21-year-old Fort St. John resident, will have his name released by the RCMP once formal charges are officially laid.

Sgt. Reinink says officers will be recommending charges that include but are not limited to flight from police, failing to comply with conditions, and driving while prohibited.
