Dawson Creek RCMP Sgt. Ed Reinink says police were initially tipped off by the Beaverlodge RCMP that a vehicle stolen in their jurisdiction was heading to the city – leading to an influx of theft in progress complaints within the Dawson Creek area.

“[The] investigation revealed that two males, aged 29 and 33, went on a crime spree committing break and enters and thefts from multiple businesses and residences from Beaverlodge to Dawson Creek,” writes Sgt. Reinink.

Police located one of the male suspects passed out in a stolen vehicle in the Tim Hortons parking lot, and were later notified by the same tow company that a second stolen vehicle was in its lot, and the other male suspect was passed out in the driver’s seat.

Sgt. Reinink says the stolen property recovered exceeds $200,000, and police are still processing the stolen property – now surpassing 160 items.

Both suspects remain in police custody with “a significant number of charges” anticipated to be approved by crown council, Sgt. Reinink concludes.
