Peace River South MLA Mike Bernier says this will help keep seniors socially connected to their community.

“Seniors are active, vibrant members of our community and this new bus from Shell Canada will help ensure that they have easier access to a variety of events and activities in Dawson Creek,” MLA Bernier writes. “I’d like to thank Shell Canada for donating the bus to help support local seniors.”

The recreation managers at the Rotary Manor will be able to drive the bus, allowing them to plan trips without having to worry about organizing transportation though private contractors – pending the appropriate licensing.

The bus is anticipated to participate in one – two outings a week. This including the seniors program at the public library, shopping, swimming, bowling, lunches, and country drives around the Peace region.

The bus can accommodate up to five wheelchairs and six seats, or 14 seated passengers and two wheelchairs.

Some amenities of the new bus include a storage rack, safety restraints for wheelchairs, and a bright skylight.
