The Grande Prairie RCMP surrounded a residence on 72 Street and Popular Drive on Sunday evening, at which point they apprehended Hynes.
To their surprise, police also found Michael Cook – another suspect wanted on a Canada-wide warrant from an unrelated charge who is now in RCMP custody.
Another female suspect, 26-years-old, was also arrested. She was wanted on an outstanding warrant from Ontario, and was later released without charges.
No one was injured during the arrests.
The scene was attended to by the investigation unit, ALERT, police dog services and general duty officers
The Grande Prairie RCMP were initially called to a residence on 92 Street and 109 Avenue on March 5, 2015, at which point they were greeted by a wide open door that looked to be a part of a ransacking, according to Cpl. Roy Kennedy.
“After a police investigation it was determined that the home’s resident had been robbed and turned over a number of his firearms to the suspect after having a gun pointed at him,” writes Cpl. Kennedy. “There was also evidence that a firearm had been discharged inside the residence.”
Hynes and Cook remain in custody and have their bail hearing scheduled for later in the day.
