Three championships will be on the line on April 24 when Fivestar Fight League presents their third local show at the Fort St. John Curling Club. The main event of the evening will see welterweight champion Duncan Wilson of Fort St. John taking on Aaron Shmyr.

Fivestar Owner Justin Donally said the amateur main event featuring Dylan Lielke is a big one for him in that a win could send Lielke to down south to compete for a world championship.

“Dylan Lielke is 5-0 now. He’s ranked second in Canada on the amateur featherweight scene. Hopefully he can win and get on the Canadian amateur team to go compete in Vegas for a world title.”

Fight fans should also be paying attention to the Brad Stewart/Markhaile Wedderburn bout and the Brendan Kornberger/Matt Baker title fight as a number of possibilities could present themselves depending on who wins each match.

“It’s huge, you never want to go two losses in a row,” Donally said referring to Stewart’s defeat in October. “The last one was a real tough fight against Brendan Kornberger. He’s coming back to defend the title against Matt Baker who Brad originally beat for the title. It creates some interesting scenarios if Matt Baker is able to beat him for the title. That could set up Baker Stewart three if Brad wins as well.”

Tickets for the event will go on sale on Monday and can be purchased at Fivestar Athletics. New to the event is tickets for students that are under the age of 18 for $45.
