Game one of the Fort St. John Senior Flyers series is in the books and the Flyers will host game two in the series down 1-0. The game was close in shots at 32-29 Spirit River, but not nearly as close where it matters most as the Rangers took the game 7-3.
Spirit River got out to an early lead less than a minute and a half into the game. The Flyers managed to tie the game later in the first period, however the Rangers took the lead once again with 1:21 left.
Things got away from the Flyers in the second period. Two powerplay goals put the Rangers up 4-1. Fort St. John closed the gap to 4-2, however Spirit River kept applying pressure and added another two markers for a 6-2 lead.
The teams traded goals in the final frame to round out the scoring at 7-3.
Scoring for the Flyers were Brennan Giroux, Brady Busche, and Jeff Shipton.
Game two is slated for Thursday night back at the North Peace Arena at 8:30 p.m.
