Senior Flyers close out regular season with 8-5 win over Manning

The Fort St. John Senior Flyers closed out their North Peace Hockey League regular season schedule yesterday evening in Manning. The team won 8-5 and will enter the playoffs as the third seed.

Despite going to Manning with only 10 skaters the Flyers got off to a blazing start. They were up 3-0 before the first period was five minutes old, and eventually took a 5-2 lead to the room after the opening 20 minutes.

In the second period the Flyers increased their lead to 6-2, and closed out the third by adding another two goals on the way to the victory.

Scoring for the Flyers were Joey Massingham (2), Jeff Shipton, Dylan Wellard, Brennan Giroux, and Taylor Greatrex. Greatrex added another three assists for a six point night.

The Flyers will take on the Spirit River Rangers in the opening round of the NPHL playoffs. The series is expected to begin February 17, however a full schedule of the dates and times for the other games has yet to be released.
