On February 1 2015, Officer Toni Kristinsson was driving home near the end of his shift when his patrol vehicle collided with a commercial transport truck.
“The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and the entire provincial government community is deeply saddened by the loss of Officer Kristinsson, and sends sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues,” a letter from the desk of the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure reads.
Officer Kristinsson had worked for the CVSE branch for a little over three years.
“Members of this community will pay their respects to Officer Kristinsson and his family this Saturday at a memorial service to honour his dedication and contributions to his job, his community and his CVSE and Transportation family,” the letter concludes.
The CVSE branch is part of a larger community of peace officers throughout British Columbia, Canada and North America who check commercial vehicles for their loads, licences and insurance.
The RCMP investigation into the incident is ongoing.
