On January 29, 2015 at approximately 2:45 p.m., police arrived on scene, to find that a southbound Ford F350 pick-up had lost control, crossed the center line, traveled off the roadway and struck a power pole.

“Unfortunately the driver, a 51-year-old Prince George man succumbed to his injuries on scene,” Cpl. Dave Tyreman writes.

Officials are withholding the name of the deceased pending notification of the next of kin, while the cause of death also remains under investigation.

“A mechanical inspection of the pick-up will be completed to establish if there was any malfunction or defect,” Cpl. Tyreman explains. “This report, coupled with the results of the Collision Reconstruction analysis, and findings from the B.C. Coroners Service investigation will hopefully provide the cause of this crash.”

Some factors being considered by investigators include speed, impairment by alcohol or drugs, and the overall poor road conditions at the time of the crash, as the roads were covered by snow at the time of the collision.

Anyone travelling Highway 97 in the aforementioned area on January 29, 2015 who may have seen this pick-up prior to the collision is asked to call 250 649 4004.
