The Fort St. John Huskies were in Sexsmith last night for their fifth and final meeting with the Vipers this season. The game provided the Huskies with a chance to sweep all five games and they did just that with a hot start in the first period, and carried that through for a 7-1 win.
Cayle Bell opened the scoring 3:59 into the first period, and the Huskies added another a minute and a half later. Fort St. John increased their lead to 3-0 at the half way point of the period.
The Huskies kept their foot on the gas as the second period got underway. They added another three goals, but Sexsmith did find the back of the net with one of their own in the frame.
The scoring was rounded out in the third by Bell as he scored for a second time, 14 seconds in.
Scoring for the Huskies were Cayle Bell (2), Jerome Thorne (3), Blair Karasiuk, and Jordan Harder.
John Apsassin had a great evening on the blue line with four assists.
Daimon Derouin got the nod between the pipes and turned aside 28 of the 29 shots he faced in the game.
Next for the Huskies is two home games next weekend as they’ll host Beaverlodge Friday night, and Dawson Creek on Saturday.
