Police say they received a call on December 24 that a suspect was threatening another person with a firearm, which lead to an investigation into Christmas Day.

“As part of the investigation, police obtained a judicially authorized search warrant for a residence located at 9320 – 101 Avenue,” Cpl. Roy Kennedy writes. “A male was arrested without incident and the subsequent search warrant recovered several firearms, two stolen snowmobiles and a small amount of drugs.”

Cpl. Kennedy says at least one of the firearms confiscated has been confirmed stolen.

“The other firearms that have been recovered are believed to be stolen,” Cpl. Kennedy goes on to write. “RCMP continues to investigate who are the lawful owners.”

James Arthur Gardiner, a 21-year-old Grande Prairie resident, is being charged with one count of pointing a firearm, four counts of careless use/storage of a firearm, one count of possession of a firearm obtained by crime, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm and two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000.
