“I was really trying to promote, promote, and get people more interested, and do everything I could but it just wasn’t enough,” President of the North Peace Family Superpark Jaandi Roemer said. “…That’s okay because there’s always next year.”
Roemer says that on a financial level, the Superpark can be “paid for very quickly” – given the amount of donations coming from “big companies” – but on the other hand, when it comes to finding a house for the indoor playground, that’s a different story.
“In terms of a building, because we’re asking the city and the Regional Directors to come together and make something that is going to be beneficial to the whole [Peace region] community, I don’t know exactly when that would happen,” Roemer goes on to explain. “But in my mind, I would love to see a final go ahead at least for the beginning of 2015 or so.”
It’s not only donations from businesses and residents that count as support towards this ongoing initiative, says Roemer.
“Message the city, message the Regional Directors [and] let them know that’s what you want.”
Roemer also says she’s “always eager to answer question” and is available through a number of avenues; including Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.
“There’s still a lot of people out there who don’t really know what the Superpark is or what we’re trying to do, so my board and I have decided to open up our meetings – once every month or every couple of months – to the public and give them a chance to come and find out who we are and ask us questions.”
“Hopefully that will boast up the awareness and get people involved.”
Roemer says the exact location of the first open-door meeting has not been secured, but she expects it to take place on February 15, running 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
