Yesterday, 308 votes were counted – opposed to 167 during the first advanced polling day in 2011.
“Well, I’m hoping that we’re going to have an increased turnout, but you never know if that’s just going to diminish the numbers the next few days for the second voting day and general voting day or if it’s going to continue,” Chief Election Officer, Brenda Ginter said. “I’m hoping it’s going to continue.”
When asked what Ginter attributes to the increased voter turnout, she says it could have something to do with the location in which ballots are being taken.
“Maybe people are interested in seeing the new [renovated] Calvin Kruk Centre for the Arts?” Ginter asked aloud. “That’s where we put the advanced voting and general voting day – that might of helped a little.”
Ginter adds, “It’s right downtown. More central, easy to get to”
You next opportunity to vote is November 12 at the Calvin Kruk Centre for the Arts, running 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
General voting day across the province is slated for November 15, which is also open 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
