The Globe and Mail: B.C. soon to release LNG tax law

According to the Globe, the announcement will come at a crucial time, since LNG proponents are making final decisions on whether to move forward with development plans in the highly competitive, international LNG export race to meet the growing needs of Asian nations.

Premier Christy Clark’s government has estimated if five LNG plants are built on the northwest coast, it would result in more than 58,000 direct and indirect construction jobs, coupled with close to 24,000 more related to plant operation.

The framework of the province’s new tax scheme was released in February, but the announcement on the details has been subject to delays, which have reportedly frustrated both industry and the political opposition.
