B.C. Hydro site in Hudson’s Hope becomes a ghost town as a result of evacuation order

B.C. Hydro spokesman, Bob Gammer says the daily operations are currently running from the Provincial Regional Emergency Operations Centre in Prince George, as he’s keeping close contact with Emergency Management B.C. and other agencies.

“We do that to monitor the fire and to make sure we are able to respond to any other agency information requests,” Gammer explained.

Gammer also says the ongoing Mt. McAllister wildfire is a few kilometers away from the nearest power lines, and has yet to affect their ability to provide services.

“We continue to watch the status of the fire to see if it is going to get closer to our transmission lines because than that would certainly cause an interruption in service,” Gammer said.

At last report, the fire had reduced in to size to approximately 16,000 hectares overnight.
