Vacancy rates in Fort St. John on a decline while Dawson Creek is on an incline

Here in Fort St. John, the vacancy rate dipped from 3.7 per cent to just 1.5 per cent, nearly a full percentage point below the provincial average of 2.4 per cent from 3.5 per cent.

Over in Dawson Creek, they’ve posted a 2.6 per cent vacancy rate increase, tied with the Vancouver Island community of Duncan for the second highest rate at 8 percent, trailing Summerland at 9.4 per cent.

The Dawson Creek rental rate has also jumped from $1,058 to $1,085, $325.00 a month more than Duncan and $343.00 higher than Summerland.  

The Fort St. John rental rate is 4th on the 27 community list, up from $1,000 to $1,050 and Kelowna is fifth at $964.00.

The other 22 communities are all below $900.00 a month, with the lowest rate found in Quesnel at $619.00.
