Lively crowd takes in Fivestar Fight League’s return to Tumbler Ridge

Fivestar owner Justin Donally says the crowd was lively and energetic and people also came from surrounding communities to take in the show.

“We don’t have all of the numbers compiled yet but close to 800 people came out. Tumbler’s population is about 3,000 people and lots of people travelled in from Fort St. John and Dawson Creek so that was neat to see,” he states. “The event itself was insane; it was great. The crowd was crazy. I don’t know what’s in the water in Tumbler Ridge but the fans are nuts. Still the loudest crown I’ve ever heard at any MMA event, not just mine is in Tumbler Ridge.”

He adds it was also a great showing on a personal level as fighters trained by Fivestar kick boxing coach Paul Rosborough went undefeated in their fights on the card.

“We’re under Rosborough Kick Boxing and he’s from Tumbler Ridge and has a small club. His guys went 4-0 and with the combination of the guys he coaches here we went 6-0 out of the gym and that’s huge,” Donally explains. “Everybody loves the kick boxing. I’m a huge fan of kick boxing. I teach kick boxing and I have a kids kick boxing program. To promote it now in the fight league is huge and the fighters came through.”

One of the fighters that stood out during the evening was Dylan Lielke. He improved his amateur record to 4-0 with an impressive first round submission win 46 seconds into the contest and earned himself a new nickname in the process.

“I’m not sure if he’s wanting to go pro quite yet but this guy possesses a lot of skills and he’s certainly a pro level competitor. He’s 4-0 now in MMA and most of his fights don’t last too long. In his last three fights two of them have been finished in the first minute. He came out in that fight and hit the guy with a huge combination almost knocking him out, picked him up, walked the length of the cage, power slammed the guy, and then grabbed a one handed arm bar. He’s a crazy talent so I expect big things from Dylan. He’s earned the nickname the Milkman because he always delivers.”
