“We are proud of our province-wide accessible transit fleet,” B.C. Transit President and CEO, Manuel Achadinha said. “On Access Awareness Day we hope everyone in Fort St. John takes us up on the offer of a free ride, and sees for themselves how efficient and effective transit can be.”
Fort St. John City Council approved the free rides as part of Access Awareness Day to educate the community about the ease of access for those looking to use conventional transit and the alternative means for customers using the DART system.
“Accessibility is a key component of building our community and our transit system is a part of that,” Mayor Lori Ackerman said. “We hope everyone takes the time to take a ride!”
Peace River North MLA, Pat Pimm says he’s proud of the initiative brought forth.
“This is good news for Fort St. John and I commend the council for creating this opportunity for residents to see for themselves how accessible our city’s bus fleet is,” Pimm said. “I encourage people who haven’t taken the bus recently to get on board – it’s more convenient than ever.”
