Niki Hedges of United Way Northern B.C. says the tournament was warmly received within the community and helps the public be more aware of the contributions made by the organization.

“This year we’ve had a great response for the golf tournament. Every year it’s run there’s more awareness of United Way and the work we do and the value of the work we do increases,” she explains. “We’ve had a great response from sponsorships and we’ve also had some very good prizes donated for the silent auctions so I’m very happy with how things have turned out.”

She adds the money raised will cover three areas that covers the entire Northern B.C. area.

“The proceeds raised from this golf tournament will be invested into the community social programs. We’re looking at programs that support people from in the community,” Hedges says. “We have three pillars: All that kids can be, poverty to possibility, and healthy communities healthy people. Through those three pillars we will make strategic investments in the community to help the most amount of people.”
