Community Tree Planting Rebate Program “back by popular demand”

The city says some of the benefits of planting a tree include, increased property value, removal of air pollutants and increased energy saving from the provided shade. They also say the program is in place to “encourage homeowners to beautify their yard and community.”

Eligible residents must have a utility account in their name, complete and present the rebate form, and present the original receipt and the tree tag “indicating growing zone 1, 2 or 3 at City Hall”.

The tree or shrub must have been purchased after January 1, 2014 and the rebate will be applied to your August utility bill.

Rebates will be processed at City Hall, June 1 – 30, 2014 during their regular business hours. Rebate Forms are available on the city’s website, http://www.fortstjohn.ca/tree-planting-rebate-program or at City Hall.
