CNOOC Gas and Power Group and BG Group sign agreement on proposed LNG project

CNOOC Gas and Power Group and BG International Ltd. have signed a memorandum of understanding. Now a joint study is planned for a plant that would have the ability to export 21 million to 29 million tons of super cooled gas every year.

In 2013 BG filed plans with Canadian regulators for a proposed $16 billion natural gas export terminal at Ridley Island near Prince Rupert, which would be  capable of processing up to 2.9 billion cubic feet of gas a day, or 21.6 million tons per year. It has partnered with Spectra Energy on a pipeline that would go to the coast.
