Calgary Police arrest Fort St. John man after sexual assault

The victim was a woman, at home with her baby, who was attacked, after briefly leaving the child on a backyard patio, to get a toy.

As she was walking through the home, she was attacked by a man, who subsequently fled through the front door, after the woman attempted to stab him several times with a pen.

Despite an extensive investigation at the time, police were unable to locate a suspect, and the case went cold until advances in technology led to confirmation through DNA, of a match to man living in B.C.

A week ago today, a Canada wide warrant was issued for a suspect, and William James Brookshaw was arrested and returned to Calgary, on Wednesday of this week.

He’s scheduled to appear in court this morning, charged with overcoming resistance by choking, sexual assault and break and enter.
