Petronas has been exploring various options to help share the costs associated with the Pacific Northwest LNG project. Earlier this month the company struck a deal with Indian Oil Corporation for a ten per cent stake, and joins existing partner Japan Petroleum Exploration in helping with the project.

Under the potential agreement Sinopec would receive a 1.8 million tonnes per year of the project’s 12 million capacity.

Discussions are also taking place that would see Sinopec investing in the project’s Kitimat terminal.
