Zimmer recognized in House of Commons for tax credit proposal

Bob Zimmer says “I am happy Minister Flaherty and Our Conservative Government recognized the time and effort put in by these brave volunteers in the Economic Action Plan 2014.”

He adds “These volunteers give countless hours to help those in need at their own expense, and this tax credit will help defer those costs.”

Dave Merritt, a 21 year, Search and Rescue veteran based in Prince George, praised the initiative….involving a 15 percent non-refundable tax credit, on an amount of three thousand dollars for ground, air, and marine search and rescue volunteers.

It’s available to those who perform at least 200 hours of combined, eligible, search and rescue, and volunteer firefighting service…and, the son of late, North Shore Rescue leader, Tim Jones, says it’s a huge honor, that his dad was also named specifically, in the budget announcement.
