The outcome was never in doubt as the Huskies controlled the pace from the opening faceoff. The win also put the Huskies within one point of the North Peace Navigators for second place. Head Coach Gary Alexander says it’s important for the team to maintain their good habits entering games against the lower teams and not get away from the fundamentals.
“We just had to stay focused and not start playing pond hockey and give away a bunch of chances on a team that doesn’t earn them,” he says. “We had to play our game. We had to play within our house and limit the amount of goals and shots that a team like this gets on us because you get sloppy in these games and you forget how to do it against Grande Prairie and Peace River.”
Alexander was happy with how the team did overall, with the exception of a few moments but also knows it’s to be expected.
“I think they did a real good job. There was a few moments where we got a little bit sloppy but you can’t really pin that down on the boys,” he explains. “Its tough to play. There’s no structure happening that their playing against. It’s hard to play a structured game when the other team has nothing.”

Next for the Huskies is a tilt against the Dawson Creek Junior Canucks on December 18 at the North Peace Arena at 8 p.m.
