Dawson Creek Council approves more money for Calvin Kruk Centre

The majority of the work will be in the basement of the facility, and it is expected to be completed by the summer of next year.

Construction of the centre began in 2010, and it will bear the name of the cities former Mayor, who died of lung cancer, in October of 2008, at the age of 43.

When it’s opened, it will be a reality of his vision of a downtown arts and cultural facility, which will include a multi-purpose theatre, dance, music and textile studios.  The building will also house the South Peace Historical Society archives, a daycare and meeting rooms.

The facility had an original budget of $12.5 million dollars and was supposed to be completed by December of 2011.
