North West Junior Hockey League recap October 5

The big game of the evening was at the North Peace Arena where the Fort St. John Huskies fell just short against the Grande Prairie JDA Kings. The Huskies were a post away in the final minute of the third period from tying the game. Scoring for Fort St. John was Cayle Bell with two and Jayton Wieler had the third. Finding their way on the scoresheet for Grande Prairie was Corey Wamsteeker with two, Ryan Trudeau, and Daniel Bishop.

Dawson Creek fell to 2-2 with a 6-1 loss to the Beaverlodge Blades. Andrew Klatt, Parker Sharp, and Coltin Cardinal each had two points in the win, while Dylan Quinn turned aside 26 of the 27 shots he faced. Colton Gies had the lone goal for Dawson Creek.

The game between Slave Lake and Fairview does not have an updated final score, however at last report last night, Fairview had a 4-0 lead in the second period. No stats are available for the game.

One game makes up Sunday’s slate of games. The Dawson Creek Junior Canucks will be looking to rebound from last night’s loss when they take on the Sexsmith Vipers.
