Crosswalk safety a joint responsibility says RCMP

Any vehicle that is parked within six metres of a crosswalk is parked illegally and may be ticketed. Vehicles parked in such a manner hinder the ability of pedestrians to see as they attempt to cross, as well as drivers as the approach a crosswalk.

All drivers are required by law to yield to pedestrians at crosswalks, while those crossing are also reminded that they should make the intent to cross known, and under no circumstances enter the crosswalk when a vehicle is in the intersection. People crossing should always remember to stop, look, and listen before making their way across the street.
