The teams had a good pace right off the opening faceoff, and shortly after the Flyers killed off a penalty Teagan McMullen slipped one past the Grande Prairie goalie to take a 1-0 lead to the dressing room after the first period of play.
The Flyers found themselves in penalty trouble as the second period got underway, however goalie Brandon Clark stood tall in goal to keep the score at 1-0. Before the second period reached its conclusion Kolton Leslie found his way onto the scoresheet as the Flyers had a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes.
Once again penalty bug bit the Flyers in the third and Grande Prairie took full advantage to close the gap to one, but that is as close as they would get.
Brandon Clark was recognized for his work between the pipes as he was the player of the game. He stopped 20 of 21 shots for the win. The Flyers will have some time off before their next game which isn’t until October 13 at the Pomeroy Sport Centre at 12:45 p.m.
