The Huskies staff is well aware that against teams like Grande Prairie you have to bring your A game and limit mistakes, a sentiment echoed by Assistant Coach Todd Alexander.
“I think if we just play our game that we set out before each and every game we’ll be fine there,” he explains. “We just have to tighten up on the little things, the little things is what costs you when you play against good teams like Grande Prairie.
Head Coach Gary Alexander says that there are a number of things going for Grande Prairie that make them a particularly strong team this season, and anticipates a good match up.
“We expect them to be a pretty tough team of course; they’re the defending champions,” he says. They’re hosting the provincials so they want to have a pretty strong squad. They’ve got several returning players as well as us and some new guys, and they’re putting the puck in the net like we are. We’re pretty confident that we can play with any team in the league and if we got our systems working properly against theirs I think we can give them a pretty good hockey game.
Travis McLean returns to the goal tonight after Daimon Derouin got the win last night in Sexsmith. In two starts, McLean is 2-0 with a save percentage of 91.7, and a goals against average of 2.50.
