Visitor Information Centre moves to Pomeroy Sport Centre

The change in location means the VIC will be open year-round, seven days a week, and will only close on statutory holidays. The City says using the PSC is a “natural fit” as many people already access the building for conferences, events, and sports. It also allows the City to better manage staffing needs at both the PSC and VIC.

In February, City Council made the decision to demolish the former building on 100 Street after reports showed it would cost too much to repair. There is $400,000 over 2013/2014 in the City’s budget for the demolition and relocation of the Visitor Information Centre, and it recently received a $140,000 grant from Northern Development Initiative Trust for the move.
