Residential garage heavily damaged by fire in Dawson Creek

Chief Gordon “Shorty” Smith says the 19 firefighters had the blaze under control in approximately 45 minutes, and were on location for less than two hours.

The garage was being used for storage, so there were no vehicles damaged, and as it was separate from the residence, the home was also unscathed.

Smith says the building was older and likely built in the 1950s, and the preliminary investigation points to an electrically-caused fire.
