Northeast Water Tool win Premier’s Award for Innovation

NEWT provides hydrological information on monthly and annual runoff, which is used to represent 30 year average runoff. It also summarizes information on all short-term water use approvals issued by the OGC and all water licenses issued by the Ministry, as well as information on environmental flows and potential water availability, which is all available to the public.

The Province says the online tool has reduced the time and cost needed to deal with water use applications.

Over 300 public service employees and team from B.C.’s Interior and North were recognized by the Premier, including the office that managed the Finavera Tumbler Ridge Wind Energy project, which won a Premier’s Award for Organizational Excellence for streamlining the permitting process for industrial-scale wind developments.
