No arrests made three months into investigation of homicide near Charlie Lake

Constable Jodi Shelkie says the case is still being investigated by the RCMP North District Major Crimes Unit and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, along with the local Major Crime Unit, but no arrests have been made so far.

“They’re still interviewing people,” she says. “When something like this happens they do neighbourhood inquiries immediately, and now they go further and further out of who they talk to and people who may be involved.”

At the time, police said they believed it was not a random act, and that it was related to the drug trade in the area.

RCMP is also investigating a number of other incidents involving firearms this summer believed to be connected to the local drug trade, as well as a violent home invasion on 92 Street just four days after Davis’ death. Shelkie says each case is being investigated separately, and no other clear connection has been made between them.
