That’s more than one third of the monthly precipitation norm, but it didn’t come close to the September 16th record of 26.4 millimetres set in 1944.
According to incomplete Environment Canada records, yesterday was also the coolest day in Fort St. John so far this month, with an official high of 17.1 degrees. The only other day with a recorded high of less than 20 degrees was the 2nd of the month, when the temperature reached 18. However, the weather bureau records do not include any statistical information for the 5th of September.
Today the high is likely to slip below the 14 degree average for this time of year, as Environment Canada has it projected it at 10 degrees.
