Fort St. John travel clinic reopening in mid-September

The clinic has been closed since mid-September, when pharmacist Lori Bonertz said the doctors no longer have time to deal with travel consultations due to the current shortage in the city. It was initially hoped it would reopen by the end of October, with travellers looking for immunization heading to Alberta in the meantime.

As expected, the first available date with the doctor is nearly full, but there are still some openings on September 25. Dates for October have not yet been scheduled.

The early return of the travel clinic is the first good sign in a community that has been struggling with a shortage of doctors for several months now. Northern Health is still recruiting for four general practitioners in Fort St. John.
