Donations needed for kitten’s surgery

He was brought to the shelter and placed with a foster family, but accidentally broke his left leg. SPCA staff member Bev Gutknecht says his broken femur was splinted, but hasn’t healed as she’d hoped.

“Unfortunately the gap in his bones remained and the nerve damage is permanent so at this point amputation is the only option.”

The surgery will cost $650, and the SPCA is looking for donations to help pay for it.

“Despite the pain he must experience, Grizz is so happy and full of life and just loves to play with his sister,” says Gutknecht. “This sweet little guy hasn’t had the easiest start to life, but we’d love to give him the best possible chance to grow into a healthy and happy family pet. We are so grateful to anyone who can help us give this beautiful little kitten a second chance.”

Anyone interested in helping Grizz or any other animals at the shelter can call 250-785-7722, drop by the shelter at 9311 81st Avenue, or donate online to the branch.
