Two dead in head-on collision involving motorcycle near Dawson Creek

Preliminary RCMP investigation and witness accounts indicate the southbound Alberta-registered motorcycle crossed the centre line and collided with the front of the northbound truck, which was pulling a Gooseneck livestock trailer. It is not clear whether the trailer was carrying any cargo at the time.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 57 year old male, and its 48 year old female passenger, both from Sexsmith, Alberta, were declared dead at the scene. Although the driver of the pickup was uninjured, he was transported to the Dawson CreekHospital for evaluation.

Dawson Creek RCMP believes a second southbound motorcycle was also involved in the incident, losing control and sliding to a stop on its side. The male and female riders were airlifted to Prince GeorgeHospital for specialized medical treatment, but their injuries are considered non-life threatening.

The investigation into the crash continues. RCMP will not be releasing the names of the victims.
